Toy block is one of the first toys a child gets to know. You can build a fortress, learn to describe, tell a story, or just explore the world with blocks.
We talked to several Ukrainians and made pictures of what they dream or fear to see in the future. We are still in the middle of the battle for this very future, and the answer to “what lies ahead” is unclear and ambiguous — it brings hope and pain.
Toy block is just a game, but it is also an opportunity to use imagination and build a version of the story that lies ahead and then completely rearrange it into another version. We invite you to do this.
The exhibition was interactive and you could move the cubes to build narratives of your own.
The Future for Ukraine project is implemented by LUSTR festival of illustration and Pictoric with support of IZOLYATSIA foundation, Trans Europe Halles and Malý Berlín and co-financed by the ZMINA: Rebuilding program, created with the support of the European Union under a dedicated call for proposals to support Ukrainian displaced people and the Ukrainian Cultural and Creative Sectors.
